foundry10’s annual youth art exhibition
Everyday Unseen
Premiering in 2018, Everyday Unseen is a showcase for young visual and performing artists in Seattle, WA. The exhibition aims to highlight young voices in an exciting and empowering way by providing a platform that amplifies their voices and passion.
Those selected to showcase receive a stipend, goods, and opportunities to connect with other participants. Their art work is celebrated at an opening event, and they are provided an opportunity to present or perform their art pieces in front of their peers and other attendees.
Throughout the years, the exhibition has been flexible and responsive by showcasing youth work in a variety of ways, including in Pioneer Square, at a fully virtual gallery with a live streamed opening night, and as a feature at a local art museum. We continue to strive for a more youth-centered exhibition with the establishment of the Youth Leadership Council and Graphics Internship.
Vision and Growth with Everyday Unseen’s
Youth Leadership Council
In 2022, foundry10 introduced the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) as a way to put emerging artists in the driver’s seat of the art exhibition.
The cohort is comprised of inspiring youth artists who help create the visual direction and theme of the exhibition.
In 2023, we partnered with the Vera Project to co-facilitate the work of the YLC. The council continues to grow their influence through curation of showcased pieces and creating an immersive art experience.
How Everyday Unseen Continues to
Engage with Emerging Artists
In 2021, an alumni artist was contracted to create the poster for the show based on visual direction from the Youth Leadership Council.
In 2023, the first undergrad Graphic Design Intern was hired to create the poster and additional assets for the show.
