I'm a 17-year-old portrait photographer born-and-raised in Seattle, WA. I started doing photography in my Freshman year of high school and found myself quickly becoming passionate about it. There's something about human variety and the variability of perspective that draws me to portrait photography in specific. I also work for Tori Dunlap, a personal finance and career expert, and at Starbucks. My drive for professional and personal achievements (Enneagram 3 type beat), in addition to my interest in independence, is leading me to move to Berlin, Germany with my brother in June 2021. I'm so grateful for my upbringing in Seattle (and the amazing artistic communities here, shout out to Affiliates) and I can't wait to see what inspires me and my art when I'm in a new setting!

  • Talis Kroehler

    she/her
    instagram/youtube

I have grown up in a household of artists—my mom is a screenwriter and my dad is a painter. Growing up surrounded by art has allowed me to explore storytelling and develop my creative voice from a young age. I have been a dancer since I was four years old. I am also a writer, sketch artist, and photographer. Through the years, I have found that I am most passionate about filmmaking. Films are made up of so many different layers: music, visuals, choreography, language. They allow me so much freedom in creating different avenues to achieve desired emotions and relationships. In all of my films, I try to make my characters honest and relatable, so my audience can connect with them and understand them. I strive to spark compassion, empathy, and provoke thought in my audience. Through my art, I want people to become more aware of diverse backgrounds and begin to understand that we are all so much more similar than we are different.

My artwork represents my community and what's around me. It represents how I feel in that moment. Creating art helps me let go of what I'm feeling. I've been interested in art my whole life.I love working on building new skills and techniques. I also want to build new connections in the art community. Overall when people look at my art I want them to feel like they have a connection with it or look at it as a new perspective willing to learn more.

Special Thanks to our Honored Guests!

  • Robyn Jordan

    Keynote Speaker

Robyn's stories range from autobiography/memoir to non-fiction explorations of current events and political issues (often a combination of both). Her recent series of comics drawn during the months of COVID document her day-to-day reality: parenting a toddler, teaching remotely, finding safety in her home. Seattle has its unique story of 2020 that will be told and re-written as the narrative evolves. Her comics are reminders to take note of the small moments, along with the big ones: the first time you wore a mask to a grocery store; the way you feel when a friend is standing just 4 feet away; how you spent your days when the air outside was un-breathable.
